The Twofer Dog
Walking in Sherrards Park Wood in Welwyn Garden City, I was stopped by an admirer. He was admiring our dog Bryony, a tiger brindle whippet lurcher.
‘I bet your dog is good value?’ asked the man. ‘I’ve got a friend with a whippet, and he says that it’s like having two dogs in one. They’re calm at home, then when you take them out, they go mad.’
I had to agree with him, although I put him right on ‘going mad’.
At home, Bryony is serene. On walks, a transformation occurs as she unleashes her inner hunter. She kangaroo hops her way through bracken and runs like the wind. So far, she hasn’t caught anything when I’ve been out with her, for which I am grateful.
When she is in full flight, she is so impressive that people stop to watch. We are so proud of her.
@SusieSteiner1 I loved your latest book and read it far too quickly. I’ve just given it to my mum and she is gripped. Thank you.
